The Pearl Brewery in San Antonio Texas is part of a rich history dating back to 1883! Founded as the city brewery, the Pearl Brewery as well as the entire Pearl District has been a mainstay in Downtown San Antonio. Providing over 300 apartments, 15 restaurants & cafes, retail businesses & even the Culinary Institute of America, it’s both historic as well as breathtaking.
Connecting to San Antonio’s historic river-walk, The Pearl District is filled with perfect picture location opportunities. From the pedestrian bridge over the river, to the river walk amphitheater, to the historic Pearl Brewery Stables, to the Brewery itself, there are endless places to capture romance that have both an urban & country feel as well.
Erica & Brandon chose a more casual outfit to compliment the “park-like” setting of the riverwalk. As Brandon held Erica in his arms in the middle of the amphitheater, on lookers provided oohs & awws. The architecture lended itself to stunning photos as they simply looked into each other’s eyes. Not needing to direct them consistently, we simply were a guest to their love story & watched as they fell deeper in love while the sun set.
After finishing at the riverwalk, Erica & Brandon changed into more formal attire to venture closer to the Pearl Brewery for a more industrial look. As Brandon gave his future bride a spin, she smiled at him with love that showed they were meant to be!
Erica & Brandon chose to capture their gorgeous engagement photos in San Antonio, TX at the Pearl Brewery because of the diversity in both locations & style! For some tips on where we suggest taking your engagement photos see our post: Where to take your engagement photos
Erica & Brandon:
Erica & Brandon met in their high school criminal justice class. Brandon asked her to be his homecoming date & she accepted. Though the couple didn’t “officially” start dating until several years later, they were in love from the start! You can see the love in their eyes when they look at each other & Erica’s face lights up whenever she’s around Brandon. She explains, “It may sound cheesy but I feel like I have always known he was the one. I am generally a shy person & I was never shy around Brandon. Being myself just came natural. From the beginning of our relationship, we talked about spending our lives together. It was something that we both felt was meant to be & six years later he proposed. When your heart knows, it knows.”
Brandon also says with a smile, “I always knew she was the one, but I realllllllllllllllly knew she was the one when I got in my motorcycle wreck & she took such good care of me.”
Erica & Brandon have always talked about a future together, getting engaged, married, a house, & even kids. They had always talked about it happening after they both graduated from college so when valentine’s day 2016 came around she wasn’t thinking anything about it, because even though Brandon was graduating in a few months,Erica still had a year & a half left of school.
Erica explained, “It was Valentine’s Day when Brandon left early in the morning to go to the library because he had a big project due (or so I thought.) It was 6 pm before he got home & we hadn’t made plans yet. He suggested the river walk & off we went. When we got there, we walked around trying to find a place to eat that sounded good to us both. After dinner we were walking back to his truck when he wanted us to have our picture taken, which was a great idea until we noticed there wasn’t anyone around besides the people sitting outside on a restaurant patio eating dinner. Brandon nearly hopped the roped off area to ask someone if they would take our picture. I kept telling him, ‘it’s fine we can get a picture later!’ but he insisted we had one right then. Luckily, a woman walked out of a hotel located on the river walk & Brandon ran over to her & asked if she would take our picture. She took two photos of us standing next to this giant tree & then asked if we wanted one more just to make sure they turned out ok. Brandon said “yes, but hold on.” I was kind of confused when he started fidgeting with his pocket & my heart started racing I saw that small white box. He dropped to his knee & before he could say anything I started crying the most happy tears. He asked me to spend the rest of my life with him & of course I said YES while everyone sitting at the restaurant started applauding. Oh & as it turns out, he didn’t spend any of the day in the library. He had been running around town picking up the ring, going to my mom’s house, my dad’s house, & my stepdads house asking everyone for their blessings!”
